  • Do not capitalize any of these words.

commissioner

  • Do not capitalize commissioner unless writing it as a formal title before someone’s name. Generally, if an adjective, such as a league name, or the definitive article is written before the word commissioner, then do not capitalize. If in doubt, re-write the sentence with commissioner written in a non-essential clause.

director of communications

general manager, GM

  • GM is acceptable on first reference.

manager

  • This title refers to the combined head coach/general manager position at most British clubs. It is rarely used in American soccer unless someone is specifically given that title.

technical director
